(MOTTVILLE TOWNSHIP) – A northern Indiana woman is behind bars after she abducted her daughter and led authorities on a chase.
Michigan State Police from the White Pigeon Post say they were notified by the Kosicusko County, Indiana Sheriff's Department regarding a 34 year old Syracuse woman who allegedly abducted her daughter during a supervised visit Sunday afternoon. Indiana authorities were able to check the GPS in the woman's phone and discovered she was in Mottville Township.
Troopers found the vehicle and asked the woman to get out of the car. She refused and sped away from police with her child sitting on her lap.
The vehicle drove towards Constantine at speeds of up to 75 MPH. Troopers used stop sticks which ended the chase. However the woman grabbed her child and tried to run away, but was captured by officers.
After searching the car, investigators found what's believed to be cocaine.
The woman is being held in the St. Joseph County Jail and is facing charges of endangering a minor, driving under the influence and fleeing and eluding.
