(CENTREVILLE) – A St. Joseph County organization is going to be asking for a millage renewal this summer.
During the St. Joseph County Commission meeting, St. Joseph County Transportation Authority Executive Director Steve Yorks presented a request for a renewal of the CTA's millage, that is set to expire at the end of 2014.
Yorks says the millage is for .33 mills and would be for four years, just like the current millage. He says the millage would generate approximately $628,000 a year.
Money from the millage would be used to support existing operations of the Authority; capital project initial dollars for large purchases; support of the van escort service provided by the Commission on Aging and for the use of up front money for property purchase and environmental work.
The Commission approved the request. Ballot language will be sent to the County Clerk so that it can be placed on the August ballot.
