INDIANAPOLIS - We’ll have to wait till Monday to find out unemployment rates for area counties during March.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development came out Friday with its statewide unemployment report but said county and city numbers weren’t available due to the Good Friday holiday.
The recent trend has been for the state’s jobless rate to go down even as counties in our region have seen their rates climb.
D-W-D says Indiana’s jobless rate in March fell another two-tenths of a point to 5.9 percent, it’s lowest point since July of 2008.
The state added 32-hundred private sector jobs in March, with the biggest gains coming in leisure and hospitality sectors. Trade, transportation and utilities posted the largest losses.
