Police in LaGrange County break up large drinking party

SHIPSHEWANA - Complaints of loud noise led LaGrange County police to a large party involving underage drinking.
Police estimate more than 100 people attended a party in the area of 10610 West County Road 750 North. A large number of them began running when police arrived.
The officers managed to apprehend 20 of the party-goers who were under the age of 21 and consuming alcohol. Those who were over age 18 were taken to the Lagrange County Jail and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor. Those under 18 were released to their parents and will have charges referred to the county probation department.
LaGrange, Shipshewana, Topeka, and Wolcottville Police along with state police assisted sheriff’s deputies at the scene.
