(PENN TOWNSHIP) – An Elkhart man is in critical condition following a hit and run accident in Cass County, Michigan.
Sheriff Joseph Underwood says 49 year old Delbert Raeder of Elkhart was driving east on M-60 just before 3 PM Sunday. A newer pickup truck came up behind Raeder's Jeep at a high rate of speed and rear ended Raeder.
Raeder's vehicle was pushed off the road to the left an into the front deck of a house and then into a tree.
Delbert Raeder was taken to Three Rivers Health where he is listed in stable condition. His front seat passenger 49 year old Carla Moore of Elkhart, had to be removed from the vehicle by the Penn Township Fire Department. She was also taken to Three Rivers Health and is in stable condition.
Deputies say a back seat passenger, 54 year old David Raeder was flown from the scene by Med Flight and taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
The suspect vehicle is a newer, dark colored pick up truck, which sustained front end damage and was leaking fluids.
Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
