Area School Proposals Approved

(UNDATED) – Area school proposals passed during Tuesday's elections.

Voters in the White Pigeon School District approved a bonding proposal for $1.67 million by a vote of 359 Yes to 336 No. Money raised from the bond will be used to partially remodel school facilities along with purchasing and installing technology and the purchasing of school buses.

The St. Joseph County Intermediate School District's millage proposal to restore the Headlee Rollback passed by a vote of 1261 Yes to 1158 No. The proposal is for an increase of .2946 mills for 20 years from 2014 until 2033 for special education programs.

Voters in the Marcellus School District also passed a bonding proposal for $12.8 million dollars by a vote of 543 Yes to 497 No. This proposal will be used to purchase technology, school buses and to remodel some of the buildings in the district.

Quincy School District voters had two proposals to decide and both of them passed. The first was for $6.2 million to partially remodel and equip Quincy Community Schools' facilities, buying and installing of technology, purchasing school buses and a locker room addition to the high school. That passed 616 Yes to 547 No.

The second Quincy Schools bond proposal was for $2.3 million to partially remodel Quincy High School for an auxiliary gym and fitness center. That also passed, 586 Yes to 573 No.
