(ANGOLA) - A suspect in a Jimmerson Lake murder case entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors on Tuesday in Steuben Circuit Court. 19-year-old Tyler Lee Biggs entered a guilty plea to a Class A felony of conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the death on July 7th of last year of Ruben Sanchez Junior of Muncie. Under terms of the plea agreement, the cap for executed time and probation would be 25 years. The final sentence will be left up to the court but the defense will be able to argue for what they feel would be an appropriate sentence.
Biggs admitted under oath on Tuesday that he obtained and provided the gun to 28-year-old Mark Hines which Hines used to shoot and kill Sanchez. Hines has already admitted his guilt to the murder and was given a 45 year prison sentence last November.
If the plea agreement is accepted by Judge Allen Wheat, prosecutors would dismiss a murder charge against Biggs. The judge took the plea agreement under advisement and ordered a pre-sentence investigation. He scheduled a sentencing hearing for June 3rd at 9:00am which would have been the day a four day jury trial would have started. The trial dates were vacated. At the request of defense lawyers, the sentencing hearing is scheduled to last for a couple of hours as they plan to present numerous supporters for their client.
