CENTREVILLE – A Michigan State Police trooper apparently won't face charges but is under an internal review following a traffic stop in St. Joseph County last month.WWMT-TV reports
the trooper stopped an 18-year-old girl on U-S 12 after following her with lights and siren for about 35 seconds at speeds up to 80 miles per hour.
The trooper drew his gun as he approached the vehicle and detained the girl. Once she was in his squad car he is heard on tape asking her how she liked having a gun pointed at her.
The girl told the trooper she was hurrying home because her father called her to say their home was burglarized, which was confirmed by the police dispatcher.
WWMT-TV quotes Prosecutor John McDonough as saying the trooper's comments to the high school student sickened him and he hopes the trooper is permanently removed from duty.
The trooper is reported to be on paid leave while the administrative investigation continues.
