(UNDATED) - Planning to take a dip into one of Steuben County's 101 Lakes next weekend during the first big holiday weekend of the summer? You might want to wear a wetsuit. The harsh winter left ice on the lakes until early April and the water is still frigid. Ask anyone who has taken the Cold Water Challenge in recent weeks. Frost advisories were issued Friday morning for several counties in northeast Indiana and southern Michigan. According to the web site www.weatherunderground.com, the weather station at Nevada Mills dipped to 30 degrees Friday thanks to clear skies and a calm wind. Further north, a weather station near Albion, Michigan got down to 27 degrees. Other stations in the Marshall and Battle Creek area had temperatures in the upper 20's.
