INDIANAPOLIS – Northeast Indiana jobless rates continued their decline in April.
Indiana Department of Workforce Development released the latest numbers Friday showing LaGrange County with the area's lowest unemployment rate at 4.3 percent. Steuben County was highest at 5.4 percent.
The rates were down across the board. LaGrange County dropped another 7-tenths of a point while Steuben County fell 9-tenths of a percent. Elkhart, Noble and DeKalb Counties were all at 5 percent unemployment during April.
Statewide Indiana's jobless rate fell two-tenths to 5.7 percent as the state added 44-hundred private sector jobs. Trade, transportation and utilities showed the largest gains. The state's labor force grew 11,700 during the month.
