(HUDSON) - Two men were injured Sunday night when a pair of pickup trucks collided at the intersection of County Roads 500 South and 600 West. The Steuben County Sheriffs Department says the accident happened at about 6:30pm when 28-year-old Jason Schmidt of Hudson failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection and collided with another vehicle driven by 61-year-old Thomas Hamilton of Angola. The Sheriffs Department states in a news release that Schmidt was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He suffered head injuries and was taken by ambulance to Parkview Regional Medical Center. At last report, Schmidt was listed in serious condition. Hamilton complained of pain to his back and abdominal area and was taken to Cameron Hospital. Hamilton was wearing a seat belt according to the Sheriffs Department. The accident is still under investigation. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Angola Police, the Indiana State Police, Steuben County E.M.S. along with fire and rescue crews from the Hudson and Salem Center fire departments.
