(UNDATED) - Human error is being blamed for a phone outage which affected northern Indiana including Steuben County on Monday morning. Steuben County Communications Acting Director Ken Lowden says they were informed by Frontier that somebody made a mistake while programming some circuits during routine maintenance. The problem affected 9-1-1 lines so firefighters throughout Steuben County had to be called up to stand by at their stations to handle any emergency that may have developed. They were told to stand down about an hour later after Frontier fixed the problem. It apparently was a land line issue because cell phones were still able to access 9-1-1.
