(FREMONT) - A long time community leader who was a member of the 1953 National Championship basketball team at Indiana University has passed away. George G. Chambers died at the age of 80 on Monday at the Ashton Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne. According to an obituary posted on the web site for the Beams Funeral Home, Chambers was the owner of Personnel Staffing, Incorporated and opened the business in Angola back in 1980. He was the current President of Little Lambs Daycare in Fremont. Chambers was also the treasurer of the Junior Achievement Of Steuben County for many years and is the past board president for the Angola Area Chamber of Commerce. He was awarded the Chamber's Business Professional of the Year in 2007 and was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church. Calling hours will be from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Thursday at the Beams Funeral Home in Fremont. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am Friday at the Fremont United Methodist Church. Memorials maybe directed to the Fremont United Methodist Church or the Little Lambs Daycare.
