(STURGIS) – A pair of Sturgis street projects are moving along at a good pace.
City officials say a new water main and water services have been installed for the South Nottawa Street project and the sanitary sewer and storm sewer is complete.
Currently the contractor is removing the old road base and placing the new sand and gravel in preparation for curb and gutter installation which is slated to begin the first week of June.
Drive approaches and sidewalks in the residential area will immediately follow to overlap curing times. Future work will include the sidewalk in the commercial areas and the concrete base for the road.
The project is on schedule to be complete by late July.
Over at the Progress and Broadus Street project, Broadus Street has been reconstructed and the initial course of asphalt has been laid. Some of the curb and gutter at the street intersection has been placed.
Work has also started on removing the pavement on Progress Street and realigning the Progress and Broadus Street intersection. This project is expected to be finished in mid-June.
