Sturgis man accused of stabbing due in court Thursday

MORRIS, IL – A Sturgis man is due to appear Thursday morning in a suburban Chicago court on local charges and possible extradition back to St. Joseph County.
32-year-old Joshua Webster of 1209 Hatch Street in Sturgis is accused of assault with intent to murder, armed robbery and vehicle theft in connection with an incident Sunday evening on Fawn River Road.
A deputy sheriff in Grundy County, Illinois stopped Webster after spotting him follow another vehicle too closely. When he ran the license plate the vehicle came back stolen from Michigan.
Online court records show Webster faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, driving while suspended, unlawful use of a credit card, and possession of a controlled substance. He was also cited for not wearing a seat belt and illegal transportation of alcohol.
Webster is due in court at 10 a-m Thursday to face those charges and address the extradition issue.
The victim of Sunday's stabbing was reportedly in stable condition at a Kalamazoo hospital.
