(ANGOLA) - The Steuben County Plan Office is planning to charge for the disposal of tires this summer. Plan Director Frank Charlton told the Steuben County Plan Commission on Wednesday night they plan to have a "Tire Recycle Day" at the County Highway Department sometime in July. Officials were overwhelmed during a "Tire Amnesty Day" last year when they collected enough tires to fill seven semis. After talking it over with the Plan Commission, Charlton said they plan to charge $2 for passenger and race tires and $10 for semis, tractor and agricultural tires.
In other business, the Plan Commission gave primary approval on a 9-0 vote to a proposed five lot subdivision at Little Otter Lake. Phil Meyers represented the petitioners and said there would be four lots with a common beach area. The beach area was considered to be a stand alone lot by the Plan Office. The Plan Commission agreed to allow the Plan Office give secondary approval if lot sizes are clarified and adjusted, if two trailers are removed and if the health department approves the septic systems.
