(ASHLEY) - Hot embers from a torch are being blamed for a fire in Ashley on Friday morning. Steuben County 9-1-1 Communications reports the fire at 207 North Gonser was reported just after 11:00am. Smoke from the fire could be seen for several miles. Ashley Assistant Fire Chief Dave Barrand says Randy and Ken Troyer are the property owners. He says the fire started while work was being done to a vehicle in the garage. The total amount of damage was estimated at $130,000. No injuries were reported and Barrand says two dogs and a cat were also saved. Ashley firefighters were assisted by crews from Hudson, Pleasant Lake, Hamilton, Waterloo and Angola. Garrett was called up on standby.
