(WAWAKA) - Three Elkhart County residents were injured Saturday morning in a rollover crash on U.S. 6 near Wawaka. The Noble County Sheriffs Department says it happened near 700 North just after 5:00am. There were multiple calls to 9-1-1 about the accident. One caller told dispatchers they could hear a woman yelling for help and later discovered one of the occupants was ejected and in a ditch. 20-year-old Sara Smiechowski suffered a leg wound and possible internal injuries. She was flown by the Samaritan Helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center. Two other occupants of the vehicle, 21-year-old Eugene Smiechowski and 20-year-old Cody Trent, were taken to an unnamed hospital after they complained of pain. The Sheriffs Department says Trent was the driver and was unable to navigate a curve. He then over corrected and went off the road where the vehicle overturned multiple times. The crash is still under investigation. Fire departments from Albion, Orange Township along with Ligonier Police and Noble County E.M.S. assisted the Sheriffs Department.
