(ANGOLA) - A rural Angola man was told to serve three years of a six year sentence on Monday in Steuben Circuit Court after he entered a guilty plea on March 20th to a Class B felony of Criminal Deviant Conduct as part of a plea bargain agreement with prosecutors. 27-year-old Kile Richard Stockert was also placed on probation for two years by Judge Allen Wheat who accepted the plea agreement. Stockert was given credit for 189 days already served in jail. Three years of the sentenced was suspended and Community Corrections was authorized by the court. A court spokesperson said Stockert apologized for his actions and the victim in the case did not show up for the hearing.
In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed a Class B felony of rape along with two other Class B felonies of Criminal Deviant Conduct, two Class D felonies for Criminal Confinement and another Class D felony for Strangulation.
According to Steuben County court documents, the charges were filed following alleged incidents in the western part of Steuben County last December after Stockert and a 26-year-old woman got into an argument while they were in a vehicle.
