(STURGIS) – Two Sturgis Hospital employees have been honored for their work ethic and dedication.
The Sturgis Hospital Medical Staff has presented their 2014 Recognition Award to Deb Coleman, a Ward Clerk on the Medical/Surgical floor. She assists physicians, nurses, hospital staff, patients and their family members on a daily basis.
The award is given to a Sturgis Hospital associate who possesses an outstanding positive attitude, dependability and willingness to assist any medical staff member to ensure quality health care for the patients.
Coleman has worked at Sturgis Hospital for 38 years.
Also honored recently was Alicia Navarro, RN, who received the Fay Kerschner Nursing Excellence Award. Navarro provides excellent patient care on the Medical/Surgical Unit and CCU, but also oversees education for nursing staff on her unit and works to keep nursing policies updated.
The award is given in memory of Kerschner, a dedicated Sturgis Hospital nurse who was a respected and valued colleague of the nursing department. The award goes to a member of the nursing team who most embodies the qualities that Kerschner displayed every day, such as high moral and ethical conduct, superior skills and professional demeanor and being an advocate for the patients.
