CORUNNA – Grants from organizations in LaGrange and Elkhart Counties will help feed the hungry.
LaGrange County REMC's Operation Roundup is giving $500 to the Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry 2014 Meat Donation Program.
The Elkhart County Community Foundation granted $15,000.
The grants will be used to pay all processing fees for donated meat in LaGrange and Elkhart County, which will then be distributed to area hunger relief agencies.
Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry encourages hunters and farmers to donate large game and livestock to one of their participating butchers to be processed, picked up by local hunger relief agencies, and distributed within the community in which it was donated and where funding is available.
A grant for $15,000 will provide almost 45,000 meals to Elkhart County residents in need and the $500 REMC grant will help feed almost 1,500 meals.
