(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - He calls himself a long shot but Third District Republican Congressman Marlin Stutzman will be among three candidates trying to become the House Republican Whip on Thursday. The other candidates are Peter Roskam from Illinois and Steve Scalise from Louisiana. Kevin McCarthy of California is currently Whip and will likely take over as Majority Leader following last weeks stunning primary loss by Eric Cantor. Stutzman is the first member of Indiana's Congressional delegation to seek a leadership since 2006 when then Congressman Mike Pence lost to John Boehner in the race for House Minority Leader. Boehner later became the Speaker of the House when Republicans gained control of the U.S. House.
