(PORTER TOWNSHIP) – Two people received injuries when their vehicles collided Wednesday morning.
The Cass County Sheriff's Department says 48 year old Becky Worth of White Pigeon was driving west on U.S. 12 near Suszek Road at 5:25 AM when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle, driven by 21 year old Dwight Ottman of Cassopolis.
Initial investigation and witness interviews shows that Ottman fell asleep while driving and crossed the centerline, striking Worth's vehicle. Both automobiles then spun around and came to rest on the north side of U.S. 12.
Worth and Ottman were taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Porter Fire And Ambulance and the Edwardsburg Ambulance Service. The crash remains under investigation.
