(HAMILTON) - Power has been restored for Indiana Michigan Power customers in Steuben and DeKalb Counties after Monday afternoon's storms. Nearly 2,700 Indiana Michigan Power customers in the Hamilton area lost their power after the storms went through just before 1:30pm. The utility serves 2,167 customers in Steuben County and according to their web site, all but 22 were knocked into the dark on Monday afternoon.

The storm dumped just over three inches of rain about a mile and a half east of Hamilton. There were also reports of pea-sized hail and wind gust up to 45 miles an hour.

Hamilton Town Manager Brett Shull says there were a number of trees down in the Island Park area. Other trees around Hamilton were damaged including one on the Public Beach.

Heavy rain and wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour were also reported in Bryan, Ohio. A thunderstorm north of Bryan knocked down more than half a dozen utility poles along State Route 15.

Heavy rain was reported in other areas. Over three inches of rain was reported near Constantine and Centreville in Michigan's St. Joseph County. A trained spotter reported 1.8 inches of rain at Sturgis in a one hour period which caused water to cover streets in the vicinity of Cottage and Wilson.

While some locations reported a large amount of rain, other places barely had anything in the rain guage. A measurement of 2.7 inches was reported west of Avilla while 1.81 inches recorded at Hudson, 1.23 inches at LaGrange and 1.4 inches at Auburn. But only 0.33 was reported southwest of Orland and the city of Angola had only .14 for the 24 hour period ending at 7:00am Tuesday morning.

State Route 15 between County Roads F and H in Williams County had to be shut down following the Monday afternoon storms due to several utility poles down in the road. (Photo courtesy Williams County Sheriffs Department Facebook page.)
