Median Home Sale Prices Rise In Steuben, Other Numbers Drop

(UNDATED) - The Indiana Association of Realtors says the median sales price for homes in Steuben County went up by over 36 percent to $121,000 last month when compared to May of 2013. But closed sales were down 8.5 percent when compared to a year ago and new listings were down by 11.7 percent. Median prices dropped in neighboring counties when compared to 2013 numbers.
It was a rough month in DeKalb County where the median price went down by 38 percent to just under $61,000. New listings were also down by over 61 percent and closed sales were off by 52 percent.
Median sales prices were $93,000 in Noble County and over $87,000 in LaGrange County last month which were down from May of 2013. LaGrange County had a ten percent increase in new listings while closed sales went down by 36 percent. New listings dropped in Noble County by seven percent but closed sales increased by over 20 percent.
Statewide home sales were 24 percent higher in May than those in April, marking the fourth month in a row that the number of closed home sales statewide increased from the previous month. But the homes sold statewide in May was 3.7 percent lower than those in the same period last year.
