(ANGOLA) - The murder trial for Mark Matthew Fritz has been delayed until the week before Christmas. A new trial date of December 15th was scheduled Monday in Steuben Superior Court during a pre-trial conference. A five day jury trial has been scheduled by court officials. Another pre-trial conference was set for October 20th. The 49-year-old Butler man was originally scheduled to go on trial August 28th but a court spokesperson says lawyers for both sides need more time to talk to witnesses. Fritz has been charged with a murder that took place almost 13 years ago. He was arrested May 14th following an investigation into the stabbing death of 70-year-old Samuel Hunter who was murdered and robbed in his home back in June of 2001. Fritz has entered a not guilty plea to the charge.
