SHIPSHEWANA – LaGrange County police arrested 27 persons at an under-age drinking party northwest of Shipshewana early Sunday morning.
Most of them were under the age of 18.
Several people inside the garage at 11125 West County Road 750 North ran when officers arrived but most of them were apprehended.
Police then went about identifying others at the party. Nine of them were between the ages of 18 and 20. They were taken to the LaGrange County Jail on charges of minor consuming alcohol.
22-year-old Matthew Miller rents the property and allegedly told officers he hosted the party. Police charged Miller with contributing to the delinquency of minors.
17 juveniles were transported by a Howe Miltary Academy bus to the lobby of the jail where they were released to their parents.
One juvenile was charged with resisting law enforcement.
The other adults arrested were: Dora Fry (18), Daniel Eash (19), Jonas Brandenburger (18), Kayla Bontrager (18), Linda Nissley (19), Lori Lehman (19), Michael Bontrager (18), Samuel Troyer (18), and Sarah Miller (18).
