NIPSCO Gives Late Thursday Power Restoration In Angola

(UNDATED) - NIPSCO says their Angola customers who lost power following the Tuesday morning severe storm should all be back on line by 5:00pm Thursday afternoon. The utility adds that Angola should have 95 percent restoration by 10:00pm Wednesday night. Just over 200 Angola customers were without power at midday on Wednesday. Other communities where there have been a large amount of power outages include Shipshewana where 748 customers were out and Middlebury where about 600 customers were without power.

Over 30,000 customers system wide were out as of midday. Most were in Elkhart, Lake, LaPorte and Porter Counties. NIPSCO says just about everybody should have their power back by late Thursday night.

Over 600 NIPSCO and contracted resources from throughout Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Missouri have been working to restore power. A total of 128,000 NIPSCO customers were affected at the height of the storms. NIPSCO reports 130 distribution poles were broken and there were 580 reports of downed electric wires.
