(UNDATED) – One man suffered serious injuries following a roll over accident.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department says they were called to a one vehicle accident on Dickinson Road near the intersection of Blue School Road. An occupant in the vehicle, 40 year old Tony Montgomery of Constantine was ejected from the vehicle and flown to Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo where he is listed in critical condition.
Investigators say the driver, 26 year old Dustin Cole of Constantine was treated and released at the scene.
Cole told officers he was wearing his seatbelt but Montgomery was not wearing his. Cole says he lost control of his vehicle, flipping it several times before it stopped in a corn field about 30 yards off the road.
Deputies say it appears both Cole and Montgomery were under the influence of alcohol. Blood alcohol results will be pending from the Michigan State Police Crime Lab.
Assisting deputies at the scene were the White Pigeon and Constantine Police Departments, the Constantine Fire Department, Life Care Ambulance and West Michigan Air Care.
