(ANGOLA) - The Steuben County Council approved a request from Interim Communications Director Ken Lowden on Tuesday to increase the salary of the E911 Director by $4,000 to $50,197. The approval came one day after County Commissioners selected a candidate for the vacant position. That person has not been publicly named yet pending the acceptance of the county's offer. Lowden pointed out that even with the increase, the position still pays less than surrounding counties.
In other business on Tuesday, the Council voted to pay $130,000 in cumulative capital development funds for a county parking lot project. The original funding request called for the work to be paid out of Major Moves funds.
They also approved a request from Assistant Prosecutor Jeremy Musser to re-distribute $1,200 for the Prosecutors office. Musser will take over as County Prosecutor on August 1st. He announced that David Brown will take over as the Prosecutor in child support cases while Nick Wallace will become a Deputy Prosecutor.
The Council also approved grant money for five additional full time Northeast Indiana Community Corrections staff members.
