(COLDWATER) - A man who has been charged with two counts of assault in connection with an alleged attack on Bronson's Assistant Fire Chief and a Consumers Energy lineman has been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court after he waived his preliminary exam in District Court on Monday. 28-year-old Aaron Jeffrey Vanvorst is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial conference on August 11th. He remains free on bond.
Vanvorst was charged following an alleged assault on Bronson Assistant Chief Ken Stutzman when he arrived at a June 10th house fire at 1272 Wattles Road in Matteson Township. The burning home belonged to Vanvorst's parents.
The Branch County Sheriffs Department says the alleged assault took place because Vanvorst apparently thought firefighters were slow responding and were not acting quick enough.
