(PARK TOWNSHIP) – A Three Rivers man received serious injuries after being struck by a trailer in Park Township.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department says 74 year old Gerald Butler was attempting to cross Michigan Avenue near Hutchinson Road around 5:15 Tuesday afternoon on a four wheeler from a private drive.
Butler pulled out in front of a pickup driven by 27 year old Jordan Key of Kalamazoo, who was hauling a boat east on Michigan Avenue. Key attempted to avoid Butler, but the trailer struck the four wheeler, causing Butler to be thrown into the roadway.
Butler was flown to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo by West Michigan Air Care for treatment of his injuries. Key and his passenger were not injured.
Assisting at the scene were the Fabius-Park Fire Department.
