(CONSTANTINE) – Authorities will continue their search today for a fisherman who went missing Saturday night.
According to WWMT dot com, the St. Joseph County Dive Team was called out to search for the 65 year old man, who went fishing with his son around 10 PM Saturday on the St. Joseph River near Oxbow Road. During the night, the man stood up and the boat capsized.
Both the man and his son went into the water. The son told authorities that he tried to save his dad but couldn't fight the current. He got out of the water and went for help.
Members of the dive team as well as Victim's Services searched the area starting early Sunday morning, keeping their search to a 500 yard area of the river. The water is up to 14 feet deep in some place.
Authorities say they found the boat and some of the articles that were in the boat, but still have not found the fisherman.
Crews will be back out on the river this morning to resume their search.
