(INDIANAPOLIS) - A LaGrange County family has received a Hoosier Homestead Award for owning and operating their farm for over 100 years. The Burger family were honored by Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann at the Indiana State Fair.
F.B.I. Farms Incorporated is located in Howe. It has been in operation since 1881. The Burger family received the Centennial award for over 100 years of ownership.
The program was established in 1976 as a way to acknowledge Indiana’s farming families that have made contributions to the economy, culture and the state’s overall advancement.
Each year, two award ceremonies are held; one at the Statehouse in February and the other held at the State Fair in August.
