All Branch County Proposals Pass On Tuesday

(COLDWATER) – All of the county wide proposals facing Branch County voters passed during Tuesday's primary election.

The Branch County Commission On Aging millage renewal of .4908 mills for five years was approved 4593 Yes to 1362 No.

The Branch Area Transportation Authority's request for a renewal of their .35 millage for five years for the purpose of funding a transit system primarily used by elderly and disabled persons passed 3906 Yes to 2018 No.

An annual millage of .5 mills for eight years was proposed by the Branch District Library for operating expenses of all branches. It passed 4281 Yes to 1735 No.

A proposal for Batavia Township residents of .5 mills for five years for fire protection and equipment passed 151 Yes to 56 No.

Voters in Bronson had three proposals to decide as well. The biggest one was from the Bronson School District, which was asking for 2 mills for five years to create a building and site sinking fund millage.

It passed with 614 Yes votes to 554 No votes.

The City of Bronson had two proposals for their residents, both dealing with property. Proposal 1 would allow the City to sell 20 acres of farm land east of Ryan School that had been designated for cemetery expansion, but was no longer needed.

It passed with 201 Yes votes to 54 No votes. Money from the sale will be placed in the Cemetery Redevelopment Fund.

Proposal 2 would give the City permission to sell 100 acres of land designated for City expansion. The land was known as the Schmid Farms on Parham Road.

The proposal passed 215 Yes to 39 No. The money from the sale will be placed in the local street fund.
