(UNDATED) – Despite the fact there was a full ballot for Tuesday's primary election, voter turnout in St. Joseph County was down.

According to information released by the St. Joseph County Clerk's office, only 10.3% of the registered voters in the City of Sturgis cast ballots for the Sturgis Public Schools millage renewal. There were 716 votes cast on the issue from among 6913 registered voters in the City.

When you add in the voters from the four townships that also make up the Sturgis School District, then the total is 1405 ballots cast out of 11,590 registered voters in those areas or 12.1% of the people who voted.

Approximately 19.9% of the voters in the Centreville School District cast ballots for their school millage renewal. There were 667 people who voted out of 3342 registered voters in that district.

For the Road Commission's 2 mill proposal which was defeated, 6164 total votes were cast out of 43,743 registered voters. That comes out to 14.1%.

The numbers were a little higher in Branch County, according to their County Clerk. The Commission On Aging millage renewal, which passed, had 5595 total votes cast out of 31,747 registered voters in the County, which comes out to 18.7%.

In the Branch District Library millage proposal, 6016 total votes were cast which comes out to 18.9%.
