(STURGIS) – Finding the right employees for your business or company can be difficult.
The world of healthcare is no exception to that problem.
Sturgis Hospital CEO Rob LaBarge says recruiting healthcare personnel, and especially physicians, continues to be a struggle and will be for the next several years, as healthcare workers retire.
LaBarge says the issue he has is finding the right doctor for this area. While there are many doctors looking for jobs, LaBarge says some may not feel comfortable in a smaller, rural environment like Sturgis.
LaBarge says Sturgis Hospital has been fortunate in the last few months to bring two doctors on staff. Dr. Sharon Rooney is a general surgeon and will work with Dr. Amaria to help with his surgical work load.
The other doctor has come back to the area. Dr. Luis Vega, who used to be at the Colon Clinic, recently moved back from Puerto Rico, and LaBarge says will now be working in Sturgis.
