Toronto roughs up Detroit in 8-2 win
(DETROIT) – R.A.Dickey exited the game, leaving a bases-loaded mess in the sixth inning. Afterward, he could thank reliever Aaron Loup for a remarkable escape. Loup pitched out of that bases-loaded, nobody-out jam, helping Toronto hold onto to what at that point was a one-run lead. Then the Blue Jays broke the game open late, beating the Detroit Tigers 8-2 Wednesday night. Adam Lind doubled twice to drive in three runs and Melky Cabrera added a homer and three hits for Toronto. The AL East-leading Blue Jays scored three runs in the eighth and two in the ninth in winning for the 18th time in 22 games. Miguel Cabrera and Ian Kinsler homered for Detroit, but Kinsler also left the bases loaded twice. The AL Central-leading Tigers left 11 runners on base in their fourth straight loss. Detroit has dropped 12 of 16. Detroit's Rick Porcello (8-3) seemed to be cruising, but he allowed a two-out double to Cabrera in the sixth, followed by a walk to Jose Bautista. Lind then hit a drive over Austin Jackson's head in Comerica Park's cavernous center field, scoring both runners to put the Blue Jays ahead 3-2.

White Sox double up Dodgers in 2-1 win
(LOS ANGELES) – John Danks might have solved his problems away from home. The left-hander and three relievers combined on a two-hitter, Leury Garcia hit his first major league home run, and the Chicago White Sox beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 on Wednesday in the rubber game of a three-game series. Danks (4-5) allowed only two hits and one run and struck out five in 7 1/3 innings for his first road win in more than six weeks. He entered the game 1-3 with a 6.83 ERA in five road starts this season. He also had an infield single in the sixth inning, his second hit in 28 career plate appearances. Danks threw 107 pitches and didn't allow a baserunner past second base. He walked three and hit two batters but worked around those miscues. Garcia was homerless in his first 74 career games but ended that drought in impressive fashion. The 23 year old belted a first-pitch fastball from Josh Beckett deep over the center-field fence, an estimated 400 feet, to stake Chicago to a 1-0 lead. Adam Dunn g, hitting a 2-2 cutter into the right-field stands for his ninth homer of the season. Chicago closer Ronald Belisario slammed the door on his former team in the ninth, retiring the side in order for his fifth save and sending the Dodgers to their sixth loss in eight games.

Cubs edge Mets 5-4 or win
(CHICAGO) – Starlin Castro is working hard to overcome the perception that he doesn't care. After making an error that led to three unearned runs in the first inning, the Chicago Cubs shortstop was determined to atone for the mistake. Castro went 3 for 4 with three RBIs to offset his miscue and help the Cubs outlast the New York Mets for a 5-4 win in a mistake-filled game that featured a combined 13 pitchers and 15 walks. Anthony Rizzo went 1 for 2 with two walks and two runs scored for the Cubs. The Mets have dropped two straight after winning three in a row and are 8-18 in one-run games. Cubs starter Edwin Jackson (4-5) was victimized by his defense and his own lack of command, but managed to get through five innings, giving up five hits and five walks. Just one of the four runs he surrendered was earned. Hector Rondon pitched the ninth for his seventh save in eight chances.
