White Pigeon Wins D-4 Golf Title
(BATTLE CREEK) – White Pigeon made up a seven shot difference and captured the Division 4 State Golf Title Saturday at Bedford Valley GC. The Chiefs shot 326 on Saturday for a two day total of 654. Day #1 leader Charlevoix ended up in a tie for secnd with Lincoln Alcona at 663. Riley Olsen led the Chiefs with a two round total of 157, shooting 81 and 76. Andrew Mann was a shot off the pace at 158. Coach Mark Olsen says this was a dream come true for his team. With all but one player returning in 2015, Olsen says next year looks to be a good year as well for the Chiefs. In the individual state finals, Centreville's Logan Heffner had a two day total of 173, shooting 85 and 88.
Lakeland golfers just miss Regional tournament
(GOSHEN) – The Lakeland golf team finished fourth at their Sectional, played at the Black Squirrel Golf Club. The Lakers shot 335 while Prairie Heights was ninth (369) and Westview was tenth (397). Northridge finished first with a 313 followed by NorthWood (314) and Fairfield (321). Those three teams advance to the Regional meet. Lakeland was led by Lukas Long who shot a 78. Nick Bennett shot an 84 for Prairie Heights while Nate Gerardot led Westview with a 95.
