Kinsler, Martinez homer in Tigers' win over Rangers
(ARLINGTON) - Ian Kinsler homered in the first at-bat of his return to Texas as an opponent and J.D. Martinez had a tiebreaking two-run shot as the Detroit Tigers beat the Rangers 8-2 on Tuesday. The AL Central-leading Tigers won their fifth in a row. The Rangers have a season-worst six-game losing streak. Kinsler spent the first eight seasons of his career in Texas before being traded for Prince Fielder in a swap of All-Stars last winter. Martinez's homer, his eighth of the season, started a five run outburst in the seventh inning. It came off Colby Lewis (5-5). Adrian Beltre went 4 for 4 for Texas, pushing his career total to 2,503 hits. Drew Smyly (4-6) allowed only one unearned run over six innings for Detroit. Boos were more prevalent during Kinsler's last four plate appearances; a popout, groundout and a strikeout before adding a two-run single in the eighth.

White Sox snap slide with 4-2 win over Orioles
(BALTIMORE) – The Chicago White Sox rarely breeze to an easy victory, and this was no exception. Although the White Sox experienced a few anxious moments in the ninth inning Tuesday night, that didn't make their 4-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles any less satisfying. Jose Quintana (4-7) allowed one run in seven innings while Gordan Beckham homered to help Chicago end a five game losing streak. Alexei Ramirez had two hits and scored twice for the last-place White Sox, who had lost nine of 11 overall and eight straight on the road. Quintana (4-7) gave up six hits, struck out eight and walked three. The left-hander was 0-3 in four starts since May 26. One night after blowing a ninth-inning lead in the series opener, White Sox closer Ronald Belisario entered in the ninth with no outs and a runner on first. He allowed a pinch-hit RBI single to Delmon young before getting pinch-hitter Ryan Flaherty to bounce into a double play.

Cubs top Reds with 7-3 victory
(CHICAGO) – Jake Arrieta retired his first 18 batters and struck out nine in seven impressive innings, leading the Chicago Cubs to a 7-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night. Arrieta (4-1) was working on a perfect game before rookie Billy Hamilton started the seventh with a single up the middle. The right-hander allowed two runs and three hits while improving to 3-0 with a 1.14 ERA in five June starts. Anthony Rizzo belted a solo homer for the second straight night for the Cubs, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Welinton Castillo drove in two runs, including a sacrifice fly in Chicago's three-run eighth. Devin Mesoraco homered for the fifth straight game for Cincinnati, matching a franchise record. Mesoraco's 14th homer came with one out in the ninth against Neil Ramirez.
