Prices fans 10 as Tigers win in 12 innings
(NEW YORK) – David Price gave his new team a chance to win. Later, his catcher delivered the deciding stroke. Price struck out 10 in his Detroit debut and was long gone when Alex Avila homered in the 12th inning to lift the Tigers to a 4-3 win over the New York Yankees on Tuesday. Price pitched 8 2/3 innings and left with the score 3-all, thanks to an RBI single from Avila. The AL Central leaders got Price from Tampa Bay the past Thursday in a three-team deal minutes before the tradeg deadline. Price leads the majors in strikeouts (199) and innings (179 1/3). Bushy bearded Joba Chamberlain relieved Price, and the crowd booed the formerly clean-shaven, former Yankees reliever. He got four outs without permitting a hit. Avila homered with one out off Matt Daley (0-1). Joakim Soria (2-4) got the win. Joe Nathan earned his 23rd save in 28 tries by retiring Chase Headley on a leadoff drive that was caught at the right-field wall. Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter exited with a bruised left hand after being hit by a pitch from Dellin Betances in the ninth inning. Hunter is listed as day-to-day.

Rangers blast White Sox 16-0
(CHICAGO) - The last-place Texas Rangers vented two months' worth of frustration. Robinsoon Chirinos homered twice and Colby Lewis pitched a six-hitter to lead Texas to a 16-0 rout of the Chicago White Sox, the largest shutout victory in team history. J.P. Arencibia, Adrian Beltre and Shin-Soo Choo also went deep for the Rangers, who set a season-high in runs scored and snapped a four-game losing streak. Their last five-homer game came last August at U.S. Cellular Field. The laugher ended with designated hitter Adam Dunn on the mound in the ninth inning. The 6 foot 6, 280 pounder allowed one run on two hits and a walk. He did not speak with reporters afterward. John Danks (9-7) started for Chicago and was rocked for nine runs on five walks and eight hits, including four home run, in 4 2/3 innings. The left-hander leads the American League with 23 homers allowed.

Cubs top Rockies 6-5 in 12 innings
(DENVER) - Javier Baez made his major league debut a memorable one for himself and his family. Baez led off the 12th inning with a towering home run, and the Chicago Cubs beat the Colorado Rockies 6-5 on Tuesday night. Baez, a prized prospect called up before the game, played his first game in the big leagues with his family sitting behind home plate. He struck out in three of his first five at-bats before hitting Boone Logan's first pitch of the 12th an estimated 414 feet into the Rockies' bullpen. Wellington Castillo also homered for the Cubs, who have won four of their past five. Hector Rondon (3-3) blew his fourth save but got the win, and Carlos Villanueva picked up his second save. Chicago right-hander Travis Wood left the game after six innings with a 4-3 lead but came away without a win. He has 10 quality starts this season but hasn't had a victory since June 15. The Cubs' rotation has 56 quality starts but only 26 wins this year.
